Little Joys and Life Lessons from a Week of Simple Living

Sometimes, the best memories are the ones we didn’t plan—just simple moments, lived fully.

This is an ad-free premiere of a vlog that will be posted tomorrow on YouTube. If you prefer, you can watch it on my YouTube channel (with ad interruptions) here.

This week reminded me how profound the little things really are. It was full of daily rituals, sweaty workouts, garden surprises—and love, lots of it.

It all started on a sunny Monday, with that magical moment when the day still feels full of promise. I eased into the morning with my usual rituals: defrosting proteins, tidying up, and making my weekly batch of homemade protein bars. The kind of slow productivity that gives structure to chaos.

And speaking of chaos—editing the vlog with over 700 clips? It’s intense. But also beautiful. Editing gives me the chance to live those moments again. It’s like keeping a video journal of my life. And while it might seem like I'm creating content, in truth, I'm creating meaning.

On Tuesday, my body was sore. Marathon training will do that to you. But I showed up anyway, ran 16 kilometers, and felt every humid breath of it. I also learned a little lesson the hard way: consistency with creatine matters. Forgetting it over the weekend reminded me how essential routines are—even for the little things.

Midweek brought a mix of joy and mess: it was my husband's birthday. He asked for a Brazilian-style carrot cake with chocolate frosting (yes, the classic!). I made it from scratch, of course, even if it meant making peace with kitchen chaos. We have a rule here: on birthdays, you don’t lift a finger. So, I cleaned up the next day—worth it.

The garden offered its own lessons too. I experimented with trellising tomato plants using skewers and zip ties. Not glamorous, but effective. Nature doesn’t ask for perfection—just care and patience.

Friday was for homemade dried tomatoes and infused olive oil, a little luxury I savor. These slow projects fill my cup in a way quick wins never do. I also tried to save some struggling seeds I planted too deep—another gentle reminder: growth needs space and light.

Saturday wrapped everything together: a walk in the park, the first cold brew of the season, and a quiet afternoon watching soccer on the balcony with my love. We've done extravagant dates and fine dining, but I swear nothing compares to sitting on the grass with coffee and just being.

Sometimes, the best memories are the ones we didn’t plan—just simple moments, lived fully.

With gratitude,
Luciana 💛
